IRK MY NERVES: When people tell you to "Smile it's not that bad"

This statement right here!!! Lordt IRKS MY SOUL!! It surpasses the nerves and heads straight to the core of my existence. Why you might ask, BECAUSE nothing is wrong. It's my face I can't change it.

Not a single week goes by without some one saying to me "It's not that bad. Smile". Look sir or madam. I'm good. Gabrielle Union made the resting B$#%H face a trend back in the 90's. Y'all remember "Bring it On", Deliver us from Eva" almost all the films she's done. So please give it a rest.

Maybe if people actually thought about their responses before they spoke, we would have peace in the world. It's possible I'm just in deep thought, I may be hungry, or it's possible you're just taking too DAMN long at the register. But more than likely I just need my eyebrows done. Now if I was to pop off every time someone said this to me, I would be wrong right, OF COURSE I WOULD.

Plus my grandma and other elderly women have told me "People who walk around smiling and laughing all day are crazy" From now on I am just going to walk around like this:

IRK MY NERVES: TIDAL 10X20~~The Good and The Bad

Last night Jay Z brought a POWERHOUSE event to the Barclay Center: Tidal 10X20. Which featured an array of big name artists and newcomers. Beyonce, Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, Rick Ross, T.I., Alessia Cara, Flatbush Zombies and many more.

I was excited to see all these artist in one place because I can "kill two birds with one stone" instead of going to their individual shows. Plus I've been waiting to see Prince for a long time and I thought this was my chance to finally see him!!

Let me start with the Bad first: The doors were supposed to open at 7pm but apparently that was just the "company man" response to keep people at ease. Plus the way they lined people up was weird. Why would you have the line zig zag when people are just going to turn around and face the door when it's time to go in. But any who after getting in and settled in our seats, I just so happen to check the TIDAL T-shirt and GUESS WHAT I don't see Prince's name anywhere......UMMM where is his name,  did the lineup change, if so why wasn't I notified with a nicely worded email and asking me if I wanted a refund (even though that's wishful thinking). I did not find out he wasn't coming till I googled it. Honestly, I think the only reason I went to concert, was for Prince and clearly I was the only one checking for him because people kept staring at me when I yelled out "Where's Prince?!?" Tidal this was not a festival and I did not see artists are subject to change. I mean I made me alil shirt for Prince's arrival and everything.

Anyway after I got myself together, the show start at like 8:30, finally!! So the band Indochine, comes out first and they're rocking, I can't understand what they saying but they were still good. They performed two songs, so I'm thinking OK this is how it's going to be for the night. NOPE!! all the opening acts performed One song except Flatbush Zombies. It felt like the artists that performed One song was gone as soon as I blinked. You don't know how many times I heard people say there done already.... So eventually some of the more known names started coming out but still One to Two songs. Now I'm thinking maybe their giving Beyonce the last act since she's a good performer. NOPE!!! she didn't perform any of her songs, she just featured on Nicki Minaj's "Feeling Myself" And Jay Z's "Holy Grail". By this time it's close to 11, Jay Z performs New York and were done, finished, everyone go home the shows over.

The total show was from 8:30 to 11:10 with mini breaks in between. UGGHH and I traveled from Baltimore,MD.

Now Let's talk about the Good: When Meek Mill came out and performed his old stuff (thank goodness because I did not want to hear none of his new music) the crowd was finally up and moving because for most of the night the crowd was just mediocre. Meek Mill brought out Rick Ross, French Montana and DJ Khaled, that performance had everyone on their feet.

Damian Marley was Awesome, Of course the crowd was feeling this performance because seeing him is a rare occurrence. I wished they would have let him perform like 3-4 songs though. T.I. and Young Dro was exciting to see because Grand Hustle is the ish. (especially Dro's first album..go listen if you've never heard it.)  Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Usher and others were notable but again the sets were just too short for me.

My favorite part!! was DJ CIPHA Sounds...Why you ask...because he had the crowd amped and on their feet from the time he entered the stage to the time he left stage. Like after seeing that, I know I will go see him Dj at any club, event, party, concert and etc. because he brought energy to the building.

IRK MY NERVES: Ticket Resalers

Now I'm all for flipping something to make a profit but CMONNNNNNNNN!!

Today is the day of the TIDAL 10X20 concert (well yesterday). According to the "TIDAL company", all of the proceeds will be donated to charity. In my mind, I'm like OK I can throw some coins around to make it to this concert.....its for a good cause....PLUS I get to see PRINCE!!.  Once the concert was announced, I knew it was going to be hard to get through for the pre-sale but I kept trying and failed miserably. Clearly their web/app developers were not prepared for the high traffic.

But any who the next day, I kept trying on TIDAL but still nothing. So I'm like let me look around on these third party ticket systems. Low and Behold I see them on Stubhub! and Ticket Monster. As I was looking at the prices my face continues to scrunch and scrunch because their prices are completely jacked up! I'm thinking NO WAY!! tomorrow Ticketmaster will have them on sale for the general public at the regular price and I will buy them then.

Friday comes, I got my web page loaded...I'm all signed in on Ticket Master and I'm ready to buy...just watching the clock countdown. AND as soon as it's time ticket master shows "sorry unavailable or too many people on the site right now wait to they release their tickets" WHAT THE FUCK it's only 10:01 and 59 secs how is this even possible. Well I keep trying for over an hour and no luck. Because Twitter knows all I headed there and the comments are booming on how no one can get through on the phone, through the Internet or etc.... Then I see one tweet that says TIDAL shows sold out, Ticket Master shows sold out BUTTTTT StubHub! has over a 1100 tickets available.

So I went back to StubHub to see what they had and I see tickets from 100 to 5,000 dollars... YOU....HAVE.....GOT....TO.....BE.....KIDDING....ME. The original prices were $39 to 200 keep that in mind. Since all of these artist are supposed to perform. I'll go ahead and throw StubHub this money and I know how to pick out decent nose bleed seats.....

But BOyyyyy, When I printed out my tickets and saw the original price for $39.50 I was pissed. Of course I know its a resale but hide the price from me or something make me feel like I wasn't jipped. I like the smoke and mirrors sometime.

I do have a question though... since all the proceeds were supposed to go to charity. Why is StubHub, Ticket Monster and all these other digital scalpers allowed to buy these tickets if the "money is going to charity" because people definitely made a profit. The new age digital scalpers sit up here buy all these fucking tickets and leave nothing for the people but high ass prices and extra service fees. You can tell me I need to be quicker and all that other shit but I can be at the computer waiting all day and they still can be gone.

Irk My Nerves: Part-time speakers

My first ever blog post!! So let's just jump right in.

Have you ever encountered a person who only wants to speak when they feel like it. I know you have, we all have and I completely understand the concept of "speak when spoken to". However, if I see you everyday......walk past you everyday..... we should have built some type of relationship
by now.

Like for example, a coworker of mine, I would see her almost everyday but it's like she was only wired to speak on Mondays and Thursdays. Now of course when she had a question about how I wore my hair or clothes, she became real chatty. Let me stop you right there because I'm going to cut the convo short by giving you uncertain answers "I can't remember" or "I saw this on YouTube somewhere".  When I see her in the hallway now I don't say anything and neither does she. It's like we have an unseen staring contest of who's going to speak first but no one does.

So either your all in and speak all the time or we don't speak at all. PICK ONE!! because it "Irks My Nerves"
